The term “tokenomics” encompasses the economic principles governing the token's supply, distribution, and incentive mechanisms that drive participation and sustainability of a blockchain project. A robust tokenomic model should focus on both utility and value creation, ensuring that the token serves a functional purpose within the ecosystem while also appreciating in value over time. One essential characteristic of a well-designed tokenomic model is a clear understanding of utility. The token must have a defined and practical use case within the ecosystem. Utility can stem from various factors, such as paying for services within the platform, accessing certain features, participating in governance, or staking for rewards. For example, in a decentralized exchange (DEX), the native token might be used for paying transaction fees, offering discounts, or for voting on governance proposals, which gives the token real utility within that specific environment. This creates a constant demand for the token within the ecosystem.
