When should you report electrical incidents and what information should be included in the report?

Electrical incidents, including any contact with power lines, near misses, or electrical shocks, should be reported immediately. Even if there are no apparent injuries or damage, reporting is essential to investigate the cause and prevent future incidents. The report should include the date, time, and location of the incident, a description of what happened, the voltage of the power line involved (if applicable), the names and contact information of any individuals involved, a description of any injuries or damage, and any factors that may have contributed to the incident, such as weather conditions or equipment malfunctions. For example, if a crane boom comes into contact with a power line, even if there is no visible damage, the incident must be reported, and the crane must be inspected by a qualified electrician before being put back into service. Timely and accurate reporting allows for proper investigation and corrective actions to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
