Because this liquid is trapped within the microscopic pores of the rock, it becomes immobile and cannot be recovered by the producing well. This process, known as condensate banking, results in the loss of valuable liquid components and creates a barrier of liquid around the wellbore that restricts the flow of the remaining gas, significantly reducing the productivity of the reservoir.
