Voltage sag, which is a temporary drop in voltage under load, significantly affects ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) performance and motor operation in UAVs. The ESC regulates the power delivered to the motor based on the throttle signal from the flight controller. It does this by rapidly switching the voltage on and off to control the average voltage applied to the motor. When the battery experiences voltage sag due to high current draw, the ESC receives a lower voltage input.
