- You will learn to identify when an AI is "reward hacking." This is when an AI finds a way to get a high score or a "good job" signal without actually doing the work you wanted it to do.
Keeping AI Under Control
- You will learn how to build "off switches" that work even if the AI is smart enough to try and block you.
- You will learn how to look at what an AI is thinking while it works. This helps you spot if it is planning to do something sneaky before it actually does it.
Testing AI for Hidden Dangers
Finding Bugs in AI Reasoning
- You will learn how to use "red teaming." This is when you act like a bad person trying to break the AI to see where it is weak. This helps you fix the holes before the AI is used by others.
- You will learn how to test if an AI is lying or making things up, which is often called "hallucinating." You will build ways to check its facts against a real, solid source of truth.
Testing for Bias and Fair Play
- You will learn to look for unfair patterns in how an AI treats different groups of people. You will learn how to measure if the AI is being biased based on things like race, gender, or age.
- You will learn how to scrub data to make sure the AI does not learn mean or unfair habits from the information it reads online.
Building Safe AI Systems from the Start
Designing Secure Foundations
- You will learn how to build AI models that have a "sandbox." A sandbox is a secure, digital room where the AI can do tasks without being able to touch or change the rest of your computer system.
- You will learn how to set up layers of security. If one layer fails or is tricked, the next layer acts like a wall to keep the AI from going too far.
Watching Over AI in the Real World
- You will learn how to set up monitors that watch the AI's output in real time. If the AI starts saying or doing things that are outside the safety rules, these monitors catch it instantly and stop the process.
- You will learn how to give an AI a "human-in-the-loop" system. This means for every important choice the AI makes, a real person must press a button to say yes or no before the AI moves forward.
Handling Unexpected AI Behavior
What to do when things go wrong
- You will learn how to create a "graceful failure." This is a way to make sure the AI stops safely if it gets confused or loses connection, instead of just crashing or doing something wild.
- You will learn how to reset an AI's learning. If an AI starts to pick up bad habits over time, you will know the exact steps to clear its memory and bring it back to its original, safe settings.

The course doesn't have a fixed duration. It has 12 questions, and each question takes about 5 to 30 minutes to answer. You’ll receive your certificate once you’ve successfully answered most of the questions. Learn more here.

No, you won't. Once you earn your certificate, you retain access to it and the completed exercises for life, even after your subscription expires. However, to take new exercises, you'll need to re-enroll if your subscription has run out.
To verify a certificate, visit the Verify Certificate page on our website and enter the 12-digit certificate ID. You can then confirm the authenticity of the certificate and review details such as the enrollment date, completed exercises, and their corresponding levels and scores.
